Obituary for Erika Mushorn

Erika S. Mushorn, 31, of Troy, died on Dec. 27 at Samaritan Hospital after a heart attack.
Erika was born in Albany, raised in Halfmoon, and most recently lived in Lansingburgh. She was preceded in death by her father, Mushorn, her grandmother, Joan Mushorn, and her beloved uncle, Scott Mushorn.

Erika was a housewife and mother of five wonderful children. Her children and the love of her life, Derek Matala, were her everything, her reason for waking up every morning. Erika previously worked as a customer service manager at the Halfmoon Walmart, where the people she worked with became like family to her.

Her last job was with her sister, April Mushorn, at Half Moon Hewitt’s Garden Center. I think anyone who knew her would agree that this was a deadly combination (in the most loving way).
When Erika and her sister got together, there was never a dull moment, and the work was never dull.
Erika and Derek Matala and their five children—Derek A. Matala Jr., Nathan J. Matala, Dominick A. Matala, Nina E. Matala, and Grace L.—survive through their steadfast love.

Matala. She is survived by her mother, Wendy L. Mushorn; her sisters, Teresa L. (Christopher) Phillip and April M. (George) Mushorn; her mother and father-in-law Tammy and Harry Matala. Erika is also survived by her nephews Justin S. Mushorn and David P. Clarke, her aunts Susan E. Clarke and Kelly (Mushorn) Fox, and many nieces and nephews.

Erika touched so many people in so many ways. She loved music, family, friends, and animals. Erika was always the life of the party; The party didn’t start until she arrived, usually late. Erika was a beautiful soul with a brilliant, quick mind, an infectious laugh, a zest for life, and a razor-sharp tongue when needed. Her absence will be deeply felt, so words cannot fully capture the impact. This is not goodbye; it will give them hell up there, Erika, until we see you on the other side.

Visiting hours will be Friday, January 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9, in Clifton Park. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mushorn family to cover funeral expenses and to help their children.

Former Miss World Australia Erin Holland shares her marriage proposal and love story with Ben Cutting (Missing Erika Mushorn)

No, you fell in love with someone from cricket. I fell in love with her because of cricket, but not because I play cricket. I don’t think you met him at cricket. You have met him before, yes, N9 years AG. How did it happen?

Instagram: My whole life takes place on Instagram. Instagram: God, we can’t get one of those. Why are we already on Instagram? Why can’t we get one like that? Gosh, check your DMs. You never know, but I check my DMs. It’s not that. I am a mother.

I don’t know if they know that I have two children. Okay, so you guys met via Instagram; yeah, he’s helping you with this cricket thing and all? For starters, absolutely. I said, okay, tell me every wrong question you’ve ever had. I will never ask. Tell me some good questions, and if you know, as a moderator.

Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, you panic. You’re confused, and you need something to fall back on. You can say, “Give me ten good questions, and what if I forget?” I can record it there, and then you never forget or regret your research. So even if you don’t use them, you’d rather be over-prepared than under-prepared, so I just did.

I have read a lot. I’m watching interviews, so our computer wants to know who proposed to you or him first. Oh, heh, oh heh, of course I knew. I knew it was an exciting story. I almost got so mad at him. I thought, “I’m done. Where is this going?” It’s been four years. This is a story of every woman’s life. But he proposed in February, and then I went to PSL 2019.

Oops, so it got extended because he suddenly went to the IPL. It’s May, and I’m fighting him. I think I’m done, then. It was a chasing game now because of the PSL and this opportunity. Read more.
